It is 10 in the morning and Before watching this episode I just want to note that the wedding seems like the perfect way to end a really good season and wrap things up.

Elliot is still furious with J.D., understandable. She waxed off someone’s entire eyebrow…ouch! Did they really shave the girl’s eyebrow off for the part? It looks awfully convincing.

The day that either J.D. or Turk got married, they’d have to play one last game of tennis ball golf in the parking lot, the groom has to catty naked. I have to say…Donald Faison is fit! Those scrubs definitely do not do him justice.

Turk thought it was okay to show up a little late for the wedding, oh no. Yeah he just got kicked by Elliot.
J.D. to Turk: “Dude you’re dealing with a nervous bride, a woman I scorned and two sisters with three eyebrows” HAHA!

Why is Dr. Miller still on this show? Ugh.

Ted’s a cappella (I definitely spelled that wrong) band! Until now I have only read about them but now I can see the real thing! They were singing Hava Nagila in a church.

Haha! Someone calls for J.D. and he responds “Holla”. One of those little lines that just strikes me hilarious.

Carla’s brother taught The Todd a “spanish pick up line” but it’s really “I have herpes…for you!” oh my god that is hysterical! Especially because it’s happening to The Todd.

J.D. asks Elliot how he can make things right, she says “Go back three days and keep me from throwing away my life for you”, ouch. Oh the motivational music! J.D. may make things right.

The Todd is wearing a sleeveless shirt under his suit jacket, haha of course.

Danni is making out with everyone, including Ted. That’s just sad. Not surprising, but still sad.

Sean, due to his break up, looks like a either a complete hobo or a laid off young Santa Claus…either way it’s not a good look. J.D. told him to win Elliot back at the wedding, how sweet.

Oh my god! Turk was too late and didn’t make the wedding. I definitely didn’t see that coming. There’s still a reception though? Awkward.

Elliot’s hair isn’t pin straight for once and looks really nice. Sorry, girl moment.

Janitor popped out of nowhere at the reception, happens to work there on the weekends. I’ve grown to love him, wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t in this episode.

Elliot told Sean the real reason why she broke up with him, because she thought J.D. was the one. Not exactly comforting words to tell someone who is trying to win you back, but I guess honesty is important.

Dr. Cox and Carla had the sweetest moment! He cheered her up about not actually getting married, it was sort of father-daughterly. Dr. Cox has gotten so soft!

Elliot doesn’t get back together with Sean? Does she really love J.D.? I’m not so sure if they’re problems will be resolved by the end of this season…

So even though Carla and Turk’s wedding was sabotaged, they still managed to work through it and love each other at the end of the day. Yeah that seems like them. They’re dancing to Eight Days a Week by the Beatles?! Awesome!

Everyone from Sacred Heart Hospital is dancing together. Really nice way to end things. JANITOR IS WEARING A SUIT!

The patient Carla went with Turk to check up on happens to be a priest. They got to get married after all.

I still think it’s amazing that The Beatles ended the season, that was perfect.

I rate this episode a 4. It wasn’t emotionally draining but it was an awesome season finale. Pretty much every character was there and they even left some suspense between J.D. and Elliot for the next season.

Before watching this show I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew I would laugh and that it’d be pretty random but I didn’t know that I would grow to love and connect to all of the characters, even The Todd of whom I got used to hating. I chose Scrubs, a comedy-drama titled presumably because that’s what they wear when working in the hospital, because I had heard the hype about House but wanted to watch something funny. I figured I’d get the best of both worlds, I couldn’t have been more right. Some may think that they wouldn’t like the show because they have no desire to see what happens within a hospital but aside from the interesting aspects of what it’s like to be a doctor, Bill Lawrence finds a way to hook you into their personal lives as well. All of the conflicts as I have expressed before are relevant to everyday life, without commentary on specific events happening in the world.

I’m impressed with how well the show was received even though the characters are shown in the same settings episode after episode. It consists of the hospital, and their various apartments. You would think that this gets boring after a while and I can understand that, there are so many shows where the setting is constantly changing, but for me I found it comforting that you almost know every area of the hospital as if you’ve been there before.

The soundtrack of the shows were really great because they fit into the moments so well. At times, they provoke more emotion than what’s actually happening. It also clues you in to what’s about to happen, since it’s a comedy it really strikes you when you hear the serious music. The theme song “I’m No Superman” by Lazlo Bane has become one of my favorite songs, partly because I’ve heard it a million times recently but also because I always just liked it. I think how I even noticed Scrubs existed is because I heard the song first and looked up to see what it was. Most likely have mentioned this before, but this song as the shows anthem is sort of ironic. We depend on doctors to be like superman and save all of us, but the lyrics, and the show, reminds us that doctors are people…not superhuman aliens from the planet Krypton.

My favorite episode, and I guess the moment I “fell in love with” the show, was when I watched My Catalyst with Michael J. Fox as the O.C.D. Dr. Kevin Casey. I grew attached to it because it was the first really touching episode of Scrubs. If I had to recommend one episode for a friend to watch though I’d definitely choose My Porcelain God. It was just as good as My Catalyst but in a humorous rather than dramatic way, and humor is more Scrubs’ style.

My favorite character? I love them all, but I suppose I most relate to Elliot. She’s such a girl and over time grew confidence in herself but still is just fun spirited and passionate about her job. These are things that I see in myself and find easy to relate to.

There are many reoccurring themes in Scrubs such as the constant fantasies, the narrations you can depend on, the meaningful endings, J.D’s ongoing rivalry with Janitor and mixed up relationship with Elliot, Dr. Cox’s seemingly endless rants, and so much more. These aspects of the show are what makes it brilliant though. You are able to not follow the show then see it sometime later and still be reminded and get the feeling of why you love it so much without being that lost. It reminds me a lot of Seinfeld that way.

Of course there were elements that I didn’t like about the show. They mostly stem from sexual jokes that I felt were just odd, creepy, or over the line. Also some of the representation of women which ties into the sexual aspect. For example how The Todd views women as completely sexual objects, Danni liking getting knocked unconscious during sex, and Dr. Miller pretending not to use her good looks to manipulate people in the hospital.

Nevertheless, It was a really enjoyable show which made for a really enjoyable project!

Figured I’d leave you with this…

Why must J.D. always ruin a beautiful moment?! The music is going, Turk just revealed the true vow that he spent all day trying to express to Carla, Dr. Cox and Jordan agreed that fighting oddly is what brings them together and then “Elliot, I don’t love you”. He then proceeds to be thrown over the table as a result. It was almost a sweet ending until J.D. opened his mouth. Definitely not an ending I was expecting but it was known that he’d have to tell Elliot eventually.

The funniest part of the episode is when Dr. Cox and the Janitor square off. Dr. Cox is looking for a fight because he can’t fight with Jordan, and the Janitor is in a bad mood so he only needs an excuse. I thought this was actually a good pair up but of course with help of the entire maintenance crew, Janitor won. The best line is when Carla asks Dr. Cox what happened to him because his mouth is red and he replies “Duct-taped two hours in a morgue drawer; don’t piss off the Janitor; end of story.”.

What I find comforting about Scrubs is that the situations and conflicts within the show I feel are timeless. They’re things that everyone can understand, has gone through their self, or eventually will experience. It doesn’t really pertain to the specific time period that the show was aired, which was April of 2004. Around this time I believe Bush spoke out about the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners and Michael Jackson was indicted for child molestation. Never a joke about the war or Michael. I must say I prefer it that way, so many other shows make it their business to joke on whatever is going on at that moment, Scrubs doesn’t need to.

I’d rate this episode a 3. My ratings now are judged slightly different as I had expressed in a previous post. A 3 in the episodes now is different from a 3 in the previous ones. After seeing the full potential of where they can take an episode I probably rated the other episodes too high, but I suppose they deserved them in their own right for the time being. This episode was funny but sort of repeated the ideas expressed in the last one, J.D. not loving Elliot, Turk and Carla getting ready for their wedding. These things are necessary to repeat since the season is coming to a close but it still makes the episode average. I feel as if the season reached its climax when Ben died and is now coming full circle. I am excited for the finale!

I didn’t think it was going to happen but Elliot really pulled through. J.D. surprisingly grew a pair after Sean had a talk with him and told Elliot one of the sweetest things ever; “If I had the choice of hanging out with anyone in the entire world or sitting at home with you eating pizza watching a crappy T.V. show, I’d choose you every time.”. AW! That was the sweetest. Definitely my favorite scene of this episode.

It was after this moment that J.D. became a man when Elliot came through for him and breaks up with Sean. Once J.D. was told that he had her though, he screams in his head “oh no I don’t want her!” I didn’t know whether I wanted to laugh or slap him. Obviously him not wanting her after making such a big deal, claiming her to be his love, is absolutely ludicrous but its also exactly what everyone does. The appeal is definitely the strongest when it is something out of reach, just an idea of what could be. I think people freak out when it’s actually there’s, or lose interest because they’re more intrigued by the chase than the catch.

Right after this scene is a cool film technique. The door slides closed between them and on one side you see J.D. and on the other side you see Elliot’s face in the middle of the heart in the Sacred Heart symbol.

Dr. Cox comes through as well, more and more throughout these later episodes you really get to know him as a caring person. The entire episode he is doing everything he can to prevent this patient from getting a full body scan, presumably because he wants to win a bet against doctor Kelso. At the end though you realize it becomes more than just the bet, he willingly loses the bet in front of the patient. The patient doesn’t get the body scan. When Dr. Cox loses and Dr. Kelso even gives his wise remark, Cox doesn’t retaliate have a rant or a rave. He is surprisingly serene.

The one character on the show that in this episode made me realize I feel bad for them more than The Todd or Dr. Miller is Danni. This girl is beautiful but willingly chose to be with J.D. even though he treated her terrible. She would go to say something and J.D. would cut her off and say “Nobody cares” and she wouldn’t even defend herself. I hated this part. She also liked to be abused during sex. I saw her scenes as sad more than humorous and did not approve of their relationship at all, it didn’t make either of them a better person, it worsened them.

The song at the end is awesome, it’s Finger Eleven’s “One Thing” and just fit so well with everything going on in the show. The ending may be why I choose to give it a rating of a 4. Up until the end I’d say it was an average episode but like usual Bill Lawrence finds a way to wrap things up in those last moment and leave the audience thinking “wow that was a really good one”.

After a really good concert, with slight sleep deprivation I curled into bed late at night to watch the final episodes of a really good season. This episode was much better compared to when I first started watching, but still wasn’t as good as the last few that I’ve recently seen which would lead me to give it a 3 rating.

What I liked is that even though the plot essentially remained the same, the characters developed a great deal. J.D. for the first time I’ve seen actually spoke out about what was on his mind and asked Elliot what she was doing to him. Elliot replied that even though her sleeping with him the night before didn’t mean nothing, she needed J.D. to be a friend to her. In the end, when Sean asks J.D. if anything happened between him and Elliot, J.D. chooses to be that friend to Elliot and tells him no. I had grown a liking to Elliot over the season but I must say I was disappointed in her. She cheated on her boyfriend and got away with it, and at the same time hurt a really great guy and an even better friend. You’d have to be really deserving to get away with that.

On the other hand one of the sweeter stories was with Dr. Cox. He had thought that he grew a crush for Dr. Miller but in the end chose Jordan. I of course would agree that he made the absolute right choice.

Carla and Turk were exaggeratedly linked together. Turk had his arm around her in every seen and they even ate soup at the same time, the same way together. They became as J.D. described “one of those couples” that think they know everything because they’re doing so well together. Was this annoying? Yes, but it got the point across.

My favorite part is when J.D. kisses Danni and imagines her dressed up as a cigarette and that’s what he’s actually kissing. It struck me funny because I just pictured Tara Reid getting dressed up in that ridiculous costume for a seen that lasted not even a minute. It’s really true though, if someone takes a pull from a cigarette and then kisses someone, especially a non smoker, you are therefore making out with an ashtray.

My least favorite part is when Danni and J.D. are having sex and he slaps her hard and she says she likes it. I know it was meant to be funny but I never like to see men hit women, especially when physical violence is on the same level as sexual pleasure. I found their relationship to be interesting though. They both admitted that they weren’t that crazy about each other but they’d rather stay together than be alone. I wonder if it’s like this with many couples? I’d hope not but it definitely seems like it. I know it has to be the case with those couples that walk together looking completely miserable yet stay with each other.

The Polyphonic Spree also guest appeared on the show. They are completely crazy to me but they have a french horn player which is awesome. I play the french horn.

Another thing that I find interesting on the show is the character of Jordan. She is played by Christa Miller, the wife of the creator of Scrubs, Bill Lawrence. I wonder if it’s hard watching her do romantic scenes with John C. McGinley. One quote that I found interesting was in an interview they did for About.com, Lawrence states; “She busted my chops and said I had to write an episode that our kids could watch. I don’t know if you know, but apparently my sitcom is filth, according to my wife.”. She doesn’t even deny it.

I watched this episode right after the last and though I found many parts funny there were a lot that I didn’t like. Dr. Miller was in this one and that definitely played a part.

This episode was different because though it started off with J.D. doing the narration, much of it was handed off to Turk throughout the show. Turk was hesitating to mail in all of the wedding invitations, again on this theme of him having doubts about making the commitment. It seems like because of his doubts he became suddenly aware of every other female’s assets, including his boss. That brings us to Dr. Miller

Dr. Miller is this hypocritical seductress that Dr. Cox and Bob Kelso were fighting over. This storyline to me appeared more random than any one of J.D.’s odd flashbacks or daydreams, it just wasn’t appealing. There’s something about an old man going after an attractive young woman and actually imagining he has a shot that really ticks me off. There’s also something about this “professional” woman doctor prancing around the hospital in a slutty dress even though she demands the utmost respect that ticks me off too. I loathe Dr. Miller.

Back to Turk. Turk made a fool of himself trying to seem “in control” in front of Dr. Miller, made a mistake and effected a young boy’s hand for life. The boy was a piano player. Turk also had the storyline with mailing the invitation letters for Carla but I felt they really beat it over the head with a stick already about them having doubts and then realizing they’re perfect for each other. They’re perfect, we can see that in every episode, the emphasis is truly not needed. I know that their wedding is coming up so there will most likely be an episode about it so therefore these episodes of them “doubting” each other is good for one time use. After that it’s just not believable, we know they won’t break up.

The sweet story that turned sour was with J.D. and Elliot. Out of nowhere towards the end of the show Elliot had an epiphany and liked J.D. for the night and they had sex. Practically two seconds after they finish Sean shows up and literally sweeps Elliot off her feet. Elliot doesn’t seem the least bit concerned with J.D.’s feelings and goes off with Sean waving and smiling good bye. It’s interesting how in my last few posts I noted that they hadn’t had anything with J.D., Elliot or Sean and they bring them all back in this one. Though I wanted things to be spiced up, I felt that everything happened incredibly fast. Elliot went from calling Sean to sleeping with J.D. and back to Sean all in one day. I personally would have had Elliot torn between the two and wouldn’t have brought Sean back so quickly. Then again, Bill Lawrence said he didn’t want this to be a “Ross and Rachel” storyline.

My least favorite part is Turk’s imagination when he sees Dr. Cox and Dr. Kelso fighting over Dr. Miller. He imagines them having a tug of war with her arms and then the arms just ripping off and blood going everywhere. It was disgusting, plus I really don’t like blood.

My favorite part is when Turk is narrating and thinks Carla is in his head and can read his mind. He makes a statement about using it to his advantage and thinks “Make me a grilled cheese sandwich woman” and she replies “make it yourself” and then he turns around and screams in his thoughts =O.

I’d rate this episode a 3. There were parts that were very funny but there were also parts I didn’t like. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the storylines with the exception of J.D.’s and Elliot’s at the end, but even that got ruined.

Maybe it was because it was around 2 in the afternoon and I was in a really good mood, or possibly because this episode was just that good, but I found this to be the funniest episode yet!

First thing I noticed were the excellent camera angles. J.D. introduces the audience to a surgeon that spent a few years traveling around the world performing surgery on children and I immediately knew he wasn’t going to be of importance or respected because of the camera angle they showed him. They showed him from an extremely high camera angle so that the audience is looking down on him, making him appear small. Right after I thought this Dr. Kelso finishes telling everyone who he is and asks if anyone has any questions for him but no one does, Dr. Kelso then says “See I told you no one cares”.

The second camera angle I liked was when Carla, the new surgeon (who turns out to be someone she had history with) and J.D. are in the cafeteria. Carla and the surgeon are on one side talking and catching up and J.D. is shown across from them directly in the middle of their conversation. You then hear what J.D. is thinking, about him hating being around people with history and him mocking their conversation. I found this so funny, I always like when you can hear the characters thoughts and they’re reacting to the situation without saying anything. As usual the last thing they say makes sense to us, but leaves them looking crazy to the characters in the show. J.D. must do this about 15 times an episode. I love it.

The first scene that actually made me literally laugh out loud was when Carla asks J.D. “You flirt sometimes, it’s harmless right?” and then J.D. has a flashback of him hitting on a woman in an elevator. She asks if he wants her to push his button and he suggestively replies “I don’t know…can I press yours?” and then she proceeds to beat him with her purse. What was so funny was that J.D. is so pathetic he really looked like he was getting beat up.

The one storyline that I didn’t find that funny and actually on the verge of disturbing was the Janitor pretending to have this creepy twin brother. The whole episode he is trying to convince J.D. and Turk that he has this brother “Rosco” but it just doesn’t work out. The sweet part of it though is at the end J.D. tells him he almost believed it to make him feel better, and it works, but when they leave J.D goes to put his arm around him and Janitor replies “Too much”. J.D. then pats his ass. It was weird but cute.

I’d rate this episode a four because there were so many hilarious scenes. I think what made it so funny was that the theme was light. It was about Carla and Turk getting over their doubts about marrying each other but it was really silly and easy to laugh at.

I had to leave you this video, enjoy.

After a tough day of classes at around 5 PM I turned on some scrubs. I needed a laugh and it was the perfect episode for it.

This episode is titled “My Butterfly” because it centers around how one butterfly could effect an entire day. When the butterfly landed on the girl with a really large chest, it caused J.D. and Turk to stare and Carla to react negatively to them. This lead J.D. to knocking into someone who spilled drinks on the floor which lead the Janitor not being able to search for the doll that Ellliot promised the little girl she’d find. This also caused J.D. to be early and Dr. Cox to be late which lead to J.D. being in charge for the day, and Carla not finding Turks lucky bandanna. All of these events somehow lead up to the reasons they couldn’t save a certain patient.

After the patient died, Dr. Cox is reassuring J.D. that they did everything they could. J.D. sees the butterfly and can’t help but wonder “what if”. In the middle of the episode they rewind and go back to the first moment with the butterfly and instead this time it lands on a really unattractive guy’s chest. This causes everything in the day to go right, but in the end they still lost the patient. Dr. Cox is shown again telling J.D. there’s nothing they could have done, it was just his time to go. J.D. sees the butterfly and wonders again “but what if?”.

I really enjoyed this episode and would rate it a 4 for originality. They showed how one insignificant event, if changed, can have 2 completely different series of events but still can’t change the fate of whether a person is meant to pass on or not. I have to also give a lot of credit to the writers, the stuff that happens in this show whether it’s a quick one liner that you have to catch or one of the obvious jokes are just simply hilarious. For example, the first half of the show Dr. Kelso throws a pen to J.D. and he misses and says “yeah I’m a lefty”. When they go back in time and things happen again, he misses and says “yeah I’m a righty”. It’s silly humor I can appreciate.

This episode reminded me of the structure of Greek stories such as in the Iliad by Homer. The gods are constantly meddling and seemingly twisting fate but when it is a mortals time to go they completely back off.

This also is a big statement about the question ‘what if’ that we all wonder. I guess it means that things could have gone differently but it will still lead to the same ending result. What’s meant to be will be.

I enjoyed it as well because J.D. was actually the center of the episode. In the last few he’s been more of a narrator than the actual storyline so I started to lose the connection to him but this brought some of it back. I also noticed that they haven’t touched upon the J.D., Elliot, and Sean storyline so I wonder when they’ll get back to that. Hopefully soon, I think it’s time to spruce up the romance and step slightly away from the tears.

One of my favorite scenes is when J.D. is thinking of how to buy time for Dr. Cox because he was late and thinks of himself playing the banjo with Dr. Kelso dancing along. It was so out of nowhere and so funny just to see an old doctor dancing to banjo music in the middle of the hospital for no reason. J.D.’s daydreams crack me up.

I just watched this episode right after the previous one and even though I’d rate it a 3, it was sort of nice to take a break from all of the other episodes that were full of emotion. It felt good to watch an average episode that had a familiar rhythm of things.

This episode was about dealing with the death of a loved one, sexual harassment at work, and the overall obstacles between men and women that work together. Topics that many of us can relate to.

Dr. Cox and Jordan were mourning the death of Ben, both in different ways. Dr. Cox handled it by not doing anything, literally not talking or even bathing, and Jordan seemed to be handling things just fine. She even had two girlfriends staying over. Dr. Cox at the end of the episode realized that even though Jordan appeared to be a “rock” on the outside, she was just as hurt as he was and needed comforting too. Who’s to say that the man or the woman should be the “rock” of the relationship? This tied into the gender theme as well. I don’t think the message was that Dr. Cox needed to man up or was wrong for moping, it just showed that the death affected them both and they needed each other equally.

Losing a loved one is something that we all unfortunately go through. Some of us are more visual, obvious in our feelings, others hide the pain they’re going through and pretend that they’re okay. I think it was a good way to show that it’s okay to be hurt and that at times like these people need to be there for one another.

There was a new strong female character in the show sort of like a woman version of Dr. Cox, Dr. Miller. My favorite line of hers was “Don’t ever say ‘It’s Miller time’” while she was going over the rules with the surgeons. She accuses Turk of being sexist even in his attempts not to be, and tells Elliot that she shouldn’t let her femininity hold her back from being a respectable doctor. Even though Elliot exclaims “I love her!” because she felt that she could use a strong woman in her life as a good example to look up to, I absolutely hated her. I think I hated her because even though she preached all of these non-sexist ideas, I felt she still used being an attractive woman to her advantage. In the expressions she made I felt that she was almost flirty or suggestive and her look contradicted every word that spewed out of her mouth.

Carla was put in charge to teach a sexual harassment lesson to those who were complained about. Of course it wound up being The Todd, Dr. Kelso, and Dr. Cox. Dr. Cox was in there for calling the male doctors different women names. Though this is a comedy and I understand they treated the topic lightly, it’s something personally that I find serious. They show The Todd about to grab a nurse’s ass and Dr. Kelso stopping him and explaining that it’s okay to look but not to touch. I didn’t find this too funny because sexual harassment at work is something that isn’t funny at all, it’s actually extremely uncomfortable, especially when the person is of higher authority than you. Thank god that guy got let go. Nevertheless, this was not one of my favorite parts. It also wasn’t my least favorite part. That was when they showed J.D. getting “eaten” by Jordan’s two friends. He had a daydream that they were vampires and feasting on him. There was blood all over and it was creepy aside from that because the women were much older.

Turk and Elliot had an interesting short debate. They disagreed over who had more difficulty being respected, a black male or a white woman. Right after a black female doctor walks by. I think this answered their question.

Even though this show is random, sometimes bizarre and seemingly irrelevant to life it’s really not. This was an excellent example of how they discussed very regular topics that effect everyone, not just doctors.

It’s 7:52 at night and I just finished watching the 14th episode and the only word that comes to mind is “wow”.

I had an ex boyfriend that hated the word because it doesn’t explain much, especially when written down. Is it a positive reaction, a negative one? I don’t really use it for an explanation of whether I enjoyed or disliked something, that will hit me later, it just means that at that moment I was taken completely by surprise and all I thought was “wow”.

Brendan Frasier guest appears in this episode and plays “Ben”, Jordan’s Brother, therefore making him Dr. Cox’s brother-in-law and what he to my surprise calls him, his best friend. This is my first time seeing Ben on the show but from research I learned that he was on two previous episodes in Season 1. You are immediately made aware of Dr. Cox and Ben’s almost uncomfortably close relationship. When they first see each other and are catching up they pretend to go in for a romantic kiss until Dr. Cox pulls away and Ben states “I am the king of gay chicken!”. At that moment I was like “um…why did Dr. Cox not even seem disgusted, he liked it?”. It was after that scene that I realized Dr. Cox must unconditionally love Ben. It was also after that scene that I realized Ben has Leukemia.

J.D. walks by with an old patient in a wheelchair and you hear his inner thoughts screaming “oh my god he’s gonna die!” so therefore you assume the old man is unfortunately on his way. Right after, Dr. Cox asks J.D. to do some blood tests on Ben because he has some errands to take care of, it was going to be his son Jack’s first birthday soon. J.D. replies that he’s swamped but after Dr. Cox sarcastically jokes that the old geezer won’t die in 30 minutes J.D. agrees to do it. When Dr. Cox returns, J.D. approaches him seriously and tells him that after he left the patient went under cardiac arrest and they couldn’t save him. You then see Dr. Cox say that shouldn’t have happened, and tells himself it was the kid’s fault (J.D’s). Ben comes behind him and tells him not to be so hard on the kid.

At this point I was slightly confused. I didn’t understand why J.D. approached Dr. Cox so seriously. They had lost patients many times before and even coldly joked about the old ones dying. I remember it specifically because it even struck a chord with me, why was it such a big deal now?

Throughout the episode Ben and Dr. Cox continue to joke around and talk. Dr. Cox had been on call for 60 hours and told J.D. to tell Jordan he wouldn’t be at the event that afternoon. He felt that if he wasn’t around patients would die. Eventually Ben reasons with Dr. Cox into forgiving J.D. This took me by surprise as well…Did Dr. Cox really just take someone’s advice? Is he not attending his son’s first birthday?.

At the end of the episode everything suddenly made sense. Dr. Cox was dressed up in a black tux next to Ben (who had the same clothes on throughout the entire episode) in what looked like a park. Ben asks Dr. Cox to do one more thing, forgive himself. Dr. Cox asks him where his camera is (Ben was always snapping pictures and even made a statement that he wouldn’t stop “until the day he dies”) and why he isn’t taking pictures of little Jack and everyone at the party. J.D. shows up in the same black attire and asks Dr. Cox where he thinks he is. It’s then that you see Dr. Cox take a seat at Ben’s funeral. Ben was the patient that died.

The closing scene was one of the saddest things I’ve seen in Scrubs so far. It was even slightly more upsetting than the first episode with Michael J. Fox. It was a close up of Dr. Cox’s tormented face as he stared at Ben’s tombstone and actually accepted comfort from the people around him.

What happened in the middle of this season that it took a complete turn for the amazing? I definitely thought that the emotional, touching episodes would have slowed down by now but it only picked up which is definitely a good thing. I feel as though the show matured, almost overnight, in the middle of this season. I rate this episode a 5 as well. It’s safe to say my favorite part was the ending, it definitely “sixth sensed” me and I went back and saw all of the signs (Ben not having his camera anymore, Dr. Cox being the only one talking to him, etc.).

I somehow got taken to a youtube link of Brendan Fraser’s moments in Scrubs and one of the user’s commented “i started liking this show because of this episode. its so good, dr. cox became human”. Though I didn’t start liking the show because of this particular episode, I definitely agree that it was the one time you see Dr. Cox act “human”. He has never been shown happier, or more sad than in this one episode. According to Wikipedia (not a reliable source but oh well we all read it anyway) this episode was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series. The song I might add definitely helped deepen the emotion. It was Joshua Radin’s “Winter”.

Brendan Fraser apparently was asked to appear as a ghost in another show but couldn’t because he was filming a movie. I think that having him appear in 3 episodes was good enough, anything more might have been overkill. Good job John C. McGinley, Dr. Cox actually has tear ducts.

Whoever believes that 13 is an unlucky number would have to be proven wrong after watching this episode. Immediately after watching the last one, I’ll admit I assumed that this one wouldn’t be able to be as good and would even be judged unfairly, but I enjoyed it just as much!

Dr. Kevin Casey was in this episode as well, but it was completely different. It was more humorous but still had a really strong story. Oddly enough, everyone’s storyline was effected by this “porcelain god” which nothing other than the janitor’s outdoor toilet. He claims that because it’s outside it takes him away from the indoor germs and gives him epiphanies. The janitor also asked that it be kept a secret but of course J.D. tells everyone. Dr. Kevin Casey also calls it his “Everest” because he wants to overcome his OCD and sit on it.

J.D. is conflicted because Turk asked him to be his best man but he overheard a message that Turk’s brother left saying that he can make the wedding and will be the best man again. J.D. assumed he was Turk’s second choice, but after spending sometime on the outdoor toilet he realized he should just talk to him. That’s when Turk told him he only asked his brother to be the best man first because he knew he wouldn’t be able to make the wedding. They had a very funny scene after that with them trying to admit they love each other but in a manly way. Again, it was this bromance relationship that is always so funny. My favorite part of this storyline is when they’re trying on tuxedos and they’re dancing and bending in them to test them out and the owner thinks they’re gay.

The truly touching story was Elliot’s. The entire episode she’s reaching out for help because she lost her confidence in performing a simple procedure that she’s done a million times. She claims that Dr. Kevin Casey left and has helped everyone but her and doesn’t understand why. At the end while she is sitting in the locker room she sees a piece of toilet paper that says follow me. She follows it, in slow motion with the motivating music, to the outdoor toilet and sees a picture. The picture was of Dr. Kevin Casey on the toilet smiling with his hands in the air in triumphant fists. Awesome picture! She then sits on the toilet, waiting for her epiphany, when all of a sudden a helicopter lowers a dying patient onto the roof and she needs to perform that procedure. She then realizes she was daydreaming, but nevertheless regains her confidence.

I rate this episode a 5. It was inspiring in a funny, less corny than usual, bathroom humor (literally) type of way.
